First you go, then I go. Children who have trouble speaking and socializing sometimes will not bother to catch the ball, or, once caught, will not throw it back. When they can understand the give and take of catch, they can understand the give and take of communication.Annhttp://kibblesbits.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726893531170058575.post-48846989081779893232011-12-27T03:27:15.589-05:002011-12-27T03:27:15.589-05:00very nice post. exercise ball with sandvery nice post. exercise ball with sand bellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00701814394247501688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726893531170058575.post-49021332395899597012011-12-24T20:33:24.048-05:002011-12-24T20:33:24.048-05:00It wasn't even a kid who was hurt. Some days I get to the point of asking... "Why is it that there is so much information available and so many individuals, groups organizations and business explaining the very real difference play makes and it still is not widely known?"

It seems that people believe there must be some other better way to improve the brains and skills of children. That they think ...
"Play is too simple.. there must be something more complicated. It is 2011 after all... children shouldn't be playing with a ball."

Thank you as always for your part in creating this needed awareness ..... and clearly explaining how there is a wealth of learning that occurs through playing with a ball!Deborah McNelishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06330779787764684567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726893531170058575.post-87544018203061675772011-12-11T12:52:05.590-05:002011-12-11T12:52:05.590-05:00Unbelievable....and Gill I love the way you articu...Unbelievable....and Gill I love the way you articulate the learning that is happening for children when they engage in ball play.Only last week I was watching a group of 4 yr olds play ball and I stood there marvelling at all the learning I was seeing...Mary Faulknerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14008669673789230613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726893531170058575.post-36287237425956823372011-12-10T06:23:01.896-05:002011-12-10T06:23:01.896-05:00I can't believe that'd ban balls! My parents were never nervous about it and I survived. Not to mention dodge ball...

We do so much in the name of safety. Padded floors, antibacterial hand gel, chicken pox vaccinations (remember going to pox parties as a kid so you caught them?), "safe" parks, etc etc. Why are we so scared for our children these days? I loved my pre hand gel and "safer" parks childhoodRachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13209527132116902328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7726893531170058575.post-12855318879709014792011-12-06T18:07:47.412-05:002011-12-06T18:07:47.412-05:00I was sad when swings were considered "danger...I was sad when swings were considered "dangerous" but balls? seriously?
