The presents are
wrapped, Santa's sack is filled, the reindeer are ready. Bring on the sleigh...
BUILDING SANTA'S SLEIGH
I was babysitting
the other day and had the afternoon all planned out. We were going to make
Christmas cards for mummy and daddy, read Christmas stories, take a nap, eat
dinner, and then play a game until mummy and daddy picked them up. At least,
that's what I thought.
While we were making
our cards, I asked Caitlin what she thought would be the most fun thing to do
on Christmas Eve. (I had an ulterior motive. I was trying to come up with a big idea for the last of our
Kinetic Christmas blogs and I thought, why not go to the source.)
She said quite simply, "I'd like to ride with Santa."
I thought,
"why not?"
Out came the
trusty cardboard boxes I always have on hand, and we set off on an afternoon of magic making…

We made sure our sleigh fit just right. |

We decided our sleigh needed headlights
for nighttime driving.

We made Santa's seat by cutting the sides of the box, and used the extra bits to make runners for smooth take-offs and landings. We decorated the runners...

...and added sparkles. (Sparkles make the magic that makes the sleigh fly.) |

We added tinsel for extra magic. (Lots of tinsel) |

We added the reindeer reins. |

And we were ready to fly! |

With the reindeer in the back, of course. |

Somehow, everyone got their turn! |
And together, we flew right past dinnertime! |
Take-out, anyone?
Ho Ho Ho! Merrrrrrrry Christmas!
